Reflection #5 Communication (TLC) Tools
It has been a great quarter working with and learning from you all!! Without further ado, I'm super excited to introduce this first tool...

Click here to view my SAMR analogy!

The image on the left describes how I feel about technology. I see both its pros and its cons, but I don't feel super strongly either...
-
Similar to most of you, I also really enjoyed exploring the resources for "Learning", especially the Creativity links. Interesting...
Clever idea using the SAMR model in a Treasure Hunting analogy! I feel like your presentation of this concept is pretty slick! I was going to mention that I didn't see the interactive part(s), but then noticed you included a helpful video on SAMR in schools.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny when I think about it... the very notion of us attempting to create our own analogies is in a way in cooperation with the SAMR ideology. The truth is, we might never truly discover the real "redefinition" portion because it suggests that the sky is the limits and provides endless possibilities. I feel like this is a key component to us as teachers to challenge ourselves to be lifelong students to the craft!
This was enjoyable and thank you!
Thanks for the compliments! I hadn't thought of it that way before but I find myself agreeing with you that there is likely no limit to the 'redefinition portion'. Once there, we simply keep redefining the terms of 'what's possible'.
DeleteWow Amber that was a great idea, putting that you tube connection on your model. I wish I would have thought of something like that. Thanks for the inspiration. I couldn't figure out how to put a picture of mine on the blog. I likes the idea of the treasure hunt analogy.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I can't take all of the credit though, Amie was actually the one who gave me the idea after I took a look at hers! I also couldn't quite find out how to get everything to show up on my blog, hence the link!
DeleteAmber, the treasure hunt was such a neat idea. You seem to have put a lot of thought into this. I didn't even know that Ground Radars were a thing, you really do learn something new every day. I also like the video for SAMR you choose, I almost used the same one in mine. Great work!
ReplyDeleteWell, as they say, great minds think alike! I'm glad you found my post informational in more ways then one! I'm a fan of watching treasure hunting shows when I get the chance to spend time with my dad back at home. We particularly like the show, "The Curse of Oak Island," hence the inspiration for the treasure hunting idea!
DeleteAmber,
ReplyDeleteI LOVED that video! I believe that there is such a line between using technology for nothing and implementing it into your lessons for higher thinking.
I also really liked your analogy! I would've never thought of something like that. All of the SAMR analogies have been so clever in our group.
Are you finding in your practicum that technology is being utilized for higher level thinking and projects, or is it being used as a digital worksheet?
Have a great weekend!
Hi Amie,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words! Technology in my practicum has mostly been used at the substitution level to date. Before I started implementing more technology, my teacher just used it to allow students to access websites and type papers. While I've still just done substitution in regards to the different sites I've introduced, I'm hoping to start moving up that SAMR ladder.
