Here is my Animoto Video on my trip to Nicaragua two years ago (warning: it's long, don't feel like you have to watch it all haha)!
And a link in case this one doesn't work: Nicaragua 2017 !
And below is my comic from Pixton (meant to be funny...hopefully)!!

Reflection #5 Communication (TLC) Tools
It has been a great quarter working with and learning from you all!! Without further ado, I'm super excited to introduce this first tool...

The image on the left describes how I feel about technology. I see both its pros and its cons, but I don't feel super strongly either...

Similar to most of you, I also really enjoyed exploring the resources for "Learning", especially the Creativity links. Interesting...

Amber,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed watching your video and had to watch the whole thing! I love to travel and see new places so it was an awesome idea to share that experience with us. Thank you!
Also, your comic had me cracking up! That is so me with tech integration. I think I have it figured out and it chews me up and spits me out. haha.
Great job!
Of course! And, I've definitely felt the same way with technology in my practicum! Although, when technology misbehaves, it definitely gives you a chance to work on your 'on the fly' teacher skills. In other words, I've got to come up with something else (that's meaningful) to do - fast!
DeleteAmber,
ReplyDeleteNicaragua always seemed like such a fun place to visit, what brought you there? I like the background you used, it was a nice travel choice! Good Job!
Your comic is simple and sweet and I love it that it gets both the emotions of the excitement when you say something about new devices, and another showing the "sadness" when it'll be just chalkboard and lecture.
What is your thoughts on Pixton, did you find it easy or hard ? Would you integrate it into your classroom?
Hi Faith,
DeleteI went there to visit some friends who were living there as missionaries at the time! It was nice because I got to see both sides of the coin - the side where people are living in poverty and are truly in need of help, as well as the middle and upper classes where people were just going about their daily living. It was nice to be there as a tourist and to experience the country and sightsee, but it was also nice to able to partner with my friends in some relief work and give back however I could!
When it comes to Pixton, I actually thought it was kind of difficult! I couldn't figure out how to get a bunch of different backgrounds like I saw in everyone else's comics! I think I would definitely integrate it into my classroom after spending some more time on it. Plus, I'm sure my students could figure it out in a jiffy haha!

ReplyDeleteFunny comic strip! It's strange to think of the chalkboard as a tool like what we learned in the SAMR model. At the very least, when technology fails us in the classroom... and it will... we will always have good 'ol chalkboard to back us up!
ReplyDeleteYour trip to Nicaragua looks delicious... I mean... awesome! I've been to Iowa once. Does that count? Glad to see you had so much fun with this blog assignment. Which of these two- Animoto and Pixton- did you enjoy using the most?
I know! It's funny to think that in many ways we've always resisted change a little bit. I remember reading a really old article once in which the author was lamenting the change from chalk-slates to paper.
DeleteWhen it comes to Animoto and Pixton, I personally prefer Animoto. That's just because I had some difficulties in creating my comic (hence why it's so short)! I couldn't quite figure out how to get access to a wide variety of backgrounds like I noticed being used in other's comics!

ReplyDeleteNice work Amber,
ReplyDeleteYou impress me almost so much as a person. Your video was inspiring. I don't think I knew that we could add sound. I mixed up what I was supposed to do. Your comic was very cute too. That will probably be me in the near future. No! I am going to force myself to incorporate tech into my instruction.
Stephannie,
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words! And don't sweat the mix-up, I think your comics made up for it...they were really well done! And my advice for technology integration would be to just try it, the worst thing that could happen is it doesn't work...just be sure to always have a back-up plan! When I first tried it in my practicum I used it for assessment, but I also brought the assessments on a piece of paper just in case the tech didn't work out. So far, I haven't had to use the back-ups!!
